Dear Grace,
My friends and I made a pact to support each other's goals this year as part of our resolutions, and we're excited to get started. We hope to keep this momentum going all year, but we need practical strategies to stay on track. Our goals are diverse, from rebuilding self-care habits to changing careers. How can we hold each other accountable without becoming overly critical or judgmental?
Sincerely, Under Pressure
I've been hearing from many of you about navigating competing commitments on your goal-achieving journeys. Our practical responsibilities and idealistic passions may pull us in different directions. The key is to create balance: the sweet spot where fulfillment meets joy. Discover a creative approach to accountability with the Progress Passport Program.
It combines engaging passport-style tracking, partner motivation, and the introspection of journaling to promote cognitive-behavioral shift. It's a fully immersive approach to achieving your goals, and I'm delighted to share it with you.
Here's how it works:
1. Start by designing a physical or digital Progress Passport booklet. Include sections for goal setting, monthly progress tracking, reflection pages, celebration pages, and buddy check-in logs.
2. Set positive objectives targeting achievement and desired outcomes during your monthly goal-setting sessions:
Focus on:
Attractiveness: Highlight benefits and positive effects of achieving goals.
Stretching: Setting challenging yet achievable goals to develop skills, leading to greater fulfillment and personal growth.
Ownership: Take personal responsibility for goal achievement.
Flexibility: Adapt to changing circumstances or unexpected challenges.
Emotional Awareness: Recognize and account for the emotional impact on goal-setting and motivation.
3. Pair up with an accountability partner for weekly check-ins and support.
4. Reflect on your progress quarterly, identifying lessons learned and growth.
5. Celebrate your milestones achieved! Go ahead - it feels good to stamp those achievements and toast a virtual (or actual) glass of bubbly with friends!!! Ensure your rewards have intrinsic value or are motivational, inspirational, and personal because you’re worth it.
Remember, dear friends:
Be a safe and non-judgmental elegant lady (self-talk and towards others).
Focus on progress, not perfection.
Emphasize support and encouragement.
Be flexible and adapt strategies.
You'll be on your way to achieving your goals by following these steps. You don’t have to face the challenges alone. Traveling journeys together is a collective experience, and shared victory awaits at the destination.
~G.
